SAFE Project Technical Meeting took place on 4th of July 2024 in Ankara
On July 4th, the Representation of ICMPD in Türkiye’s Border Management Portfolio organised a Technical Meeting with the primary project beneficiary to deliver the European Union-funded project, "Supporting Türkiye's Efforts to Strengthen Border Management at the Eastern and Southeastern Land Borders" (SAFE).
Eleven participants, including heads of departments and relevant experts in the field of border management, attended the meeting. Throughout the day-long session, the project's Terms of Reference and Memorandum of Understanding documents were thoroughly reviewed, based on which the documents will be revised accordingly.
Mr. Tamer Kılıç, the Head of the Representation of ICMPD in Türkiye, emphasised the importance of the meeting in his opening remarks, stating, “Since the project started in January 2024, we have been working to make the complex technical details clearer. The insights and feedback we collect today will be crucial in shaping a clear roadmap for the project's progress. I extend my sincere gratitude to all of you for your time and valuable contributions”.
Ms. Selin Barutcuoğlu, the Border Management Portfolio Manager, added, “The primary objective of today's meeting is to gather valuable inputs from the core participant group regarding the Terms of Reference and Memorandum of Understanding documents”, which are instrumental in shaping the methodology and guiding principles of our operational strategies for effective implementation aligned with the project's overarching goals”.
Following the presentations, the meeting continued with productive discussions among the participants.
The meeting on July 4th marked the first comprehensive session of the SAFE project.
