

Drafting of a National IBM Strategy and Updating the National Action Plan to Implement Türkiye's Integrated Border Management Strategy Project is funded by the European Union.
The main objective of the Project, implemented in partnership with the Turkish Ministry of Interior, Presidency of Migration Management, is to develop a national Integrated Border Management (IBM) Strategy tailored for Türkiye and an updated National Action Plan for its implementation, to strengthen cooperation and coordination between IBM institutions in Türkiye and international partners.
IBM Project Milestones

In 2021, the project of “Drafting of a National IBM Strategy and Updating of the National Action Plan to Implement Türkiye’s IBM Strategy Project” was initiated.

On January 28, 2020, within the scope of the cooperation between Turkiye and the European Union in the field of border management, the Cooperation Plan was signed with FRONTEX - European Union Border and Coast Guard Agency.

In 2017, the Integrated Border Management Coordination Board and the Border Management Implementation Board were created with the aim to enhance the intra and inter-institutional cooperation.

In 2016 the Coast Guard Command was integrated under the Ministry of Interior, followed by the affiliation of the Gendarmerie General Command to the Ministry in 2017.

In 2016, the "Regulation on Inter-institutional Cooperation and Coordination for Border Management" was adopted.

By the year 2006, "The National Action Plan to Implement Türkiye's Integrated Border Management Strategy" was put into effect.

In 2003, “The Strategy Paper on the Protection of the External Borders in Türkiye" was adopted.
